What is running pace?
Pace is the time it takes to cover one kilometre. It is the standard reference in running for planning workouts and predicting race times at any distance.
How is it calculated?
Pace (s/km) = Total time (s) รท Distance (km). Speed (km/h) = 3600 รท Pace (s/km). Total time = Pace ร Distance.
Formula
Pace = Time รท Distance ยท Speed = 3600 รท Pace ยท Time = Pace ร Distanceโ ๏ธ Limitations
Splits assume constant pace. In real running, terrain, elevation, wind and fatigue affect pace.
FAQ
What is a good pace for a 5K?
For beginners, 6โ7 min/km is a reasonable goal. Advanced runners go below 4 min/km.
How do I improve my pace?
With interval training (HIIT), threshold runs and Zone 2 aerobic base building.
How many km/h is 5 min/km?
3600 รท 300 = 12 km/h.
What preset distances are available?
You can calculate for any distance: 1K, 5K, 10K, 21K (half marathon) and 42.195K (marathon).
